♥ Adam and Sam ♥

Rev. Darlene,

I wanted to thank you again for officiating my kid brother’s wedding on November 9, 2012. Knowing that to me personally, it meant so much not to have them be married at the Justice of Peace, they were also so very thankful for your last minute availability. We all appreciate your presence, with less than a full day's notice! Thank you for being there on Adam and Samantha's special day.

Thanks again from all of us

Lyndsey and Raymond

Lyndsey and Raymond were married at Carolina Trace Country Club with their four little girls. It was a beautiful day and as you can see, it is an absolutely beautiful place to be married.  They were such a nice couple to work with, I couldn't help but get swept up in their excitement.

♥ Mimi and Thomas ♥

Mimi and Thomas were married at the Botanical Gardens. They met, live and work in Hawaii but their families live in Fayetteville, NC so they celebrated their blissful day in Fayetteville to make their wedding convenient for their families and friends.

The photographer was Tony Carter of Tony's Photography and Video at www.flicker.com/photos/tonycarter

♥ Darren and Quetta ♥

Darren and Quetta were married at the Rose Garden in Fayetteville.  As you can tell, it was a very small intimate wedding with only the closest of friends and family.  It was a beautiful day for a beautiful couple.

Darlene,

Thank you so much for officiating our special day. I have attached some pictures. Also, the ceremony went by so fast (lol) and Darren and I were wondering if we could get a copy of what of you wrote and read for our memories.

The Groom’s Wedding Duties

Not sure about the groom’s duties when it comes to the wedding plans? While there are no hard and fast rules these days—especially with couples (instead of parents) personally footing more of the bill than ever before—here’s a quick list of the duties the groom typically handles:

 • Marriage license

• Officiant’s fee

• Writing vows (if applicable)

• The bride’s wedding band

• The bride’s bouquet

• The bride’s gift

• The groom’s wedding day attire

• Gifts for the groomsmen, ushers and ring bearers

• Wedding day transportation

• The rehearsal dinner

• The honeymoon

Of course, couples may choose to divvy up the wedding duties however they see fit, so guys, make sure to create a game plan up front with your fiancée to manage expectations, decide who will cover each detail, and ensure that your plans remain within budget.

♥ Beverly and Al ♥

Beverly and Al were married at the end of July at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux Fayetteville, NC. Their colors were red and white, and as you can tell, the bride's dress was also beautifully done. The stormy weather outside did not prevent their love-filled special day, and the wedding was held on time. On a personal note, my home which is about five miles away, was without power. I was so glad to see their wedding had no interference and went on without any problems!

♥ Mark and Lindsey ♥

Mark and Lindsey were married at The Fair Barn in Pinehurst on June 30th. Although they live in Florida, they choose to celebrate their wedding in North Carolina because this is where their family is from. You can tell from the pictures, that Mark and Lindsey just adore each other. He is a teacher and she works for any elite hotel chain. The Fair Barn is a beautiful venue for weddings and I love officiating weddings there because this lovely location is right in the thick of horse country within the confines of the Pinehurst Harness Track and surrounded by beautiful forest as well.

♥ Paul and Cynthia ♥

Paul retired two years ago from the air force and his favorite plane was the C130.  He received permission from the military to have his wedding in the back of a C130.  He is now going to college to become a science and math teacher.  His beautiful bride loves him so much that she agreed to be married in the back of this aircraft in her wedding dress and all.  (I married them this past Friday evening).  What a wonderful opportunity!

♥ Erica and Charles ♥

Erica and Charles were married in their own beautiful backyard in Fayetteville. As you can tell from the pictures, they are truly in love. The weather was iffy so the couple arranged for a tent just in case it rained. However, it turned out to be a beautiful day. The couple left for a wonderful and well deserved honeymoon.

♥ Justin and Moriah ♥

Justin and Moriah were married on 5-11-12 at the beautiful Botanical Gardens. Their love for each other was so evident and beautifully expressed when they read the vowes they wrote for each other. The day could not have been more perfect.

♥ David and Chelsea ♥

David is a Navy Seal and his love Chelsea is in the Army National Guard.  The two hope to be stationed together soon.  David and Chelsea are going to have a large wedding later on in PA but wanted to tie the knot now.  They were married in my living room and their wedding was witnessed by my husband and neighbor.

♥ Matthew and Tiara ♥

Matthew and Tiara were married today at the Rose Garden in Fayetteville, they had a beautiful wedding and the venue was free.  I provided their two witnesses.  Matthew has only been in the Army for seven months but decided to marry his sweetheart from RI.  Tiara is going back to RI to finish her accounting degree and then join Matthew as soon as possible.  It does not have to cost a fortune to have a beautiful wedding with the one you love!

We really appreciate everything you did for us, and most importantly helping us make our special day that much more wonderful. These are the pictures our photographer got with all three of us in them. Again thank you so very much,

Ty Gregg

We just want to say "Thank You" for performing such a beautiful wedding ceremony for us on November 11, 2011. It was an emotional experience and it was laid out beautiful; every word meant so much to us and we are so thankful that you performed a beautiful ceremony that we will never forget.

A very charming couple named Loryn and Ty had a classy wedding Saturday at The Fountain, located in downtown Fayetteville, and I was honored to officiate. Their wedding theme was the 50's. The whole wedding party wore the 50's style clothing with the bride even carrying a lace umbrella. Their colors were red and black with the groom wearing black with white tie to include the 50's style black and white shoes. I am really looking forward to seeing their wedding pictures!

The fountain at the front of the park on Green Street is a popular site for weddings. To reserve the fountain for your special occasion, call (910) 433-1547.

I was honored to officiate the wedding of Jennifer and Darell at the Rainbown Room on 3-24-12, downtown, Fayetteville.  Jennifer and Darell are both in the military and Darell just recently returned from Afghanistan.  The colors were red and black, and the weather was perfect for the ceremony.
I was delighted to meet Becky King from The Belmont Village, a beautiful historic home in downtown Fayetteville where any perfect wedding can be held.  They offer Catering, Flowers, Cakes and Photography and DJ service, a one stop wedding event can be had there.
I attended a Wedding Expo at the Holiday Inn 3-25-12.  I met a very new vendor who just moved to NC from Ireland called Tie the Knot Films.  He not only films your wedding, but your wedding story as well.  He films couples starting with the story of their meeting all the way to their wedding day.  Go to http://www.tietheknotfilms.com/ to see his wonderful films and photographs.

Fayetteville in North Carolina has many great Wedding Planners, Catering Services, Wedding Officiants, Restaurants, Hotels, Bed & Breakfast and venues to choose from. It appears that this information has been a great kept secret because many local prospective brides go all the way to other cities as far away as Raleigh or even Charlotte to find their wedding planners, officiants and caters.

The Fayetteville visitors center can provide all this information and more on their website at http://www.visitfayettevillenc.com/. Brides can get the information they need, including a list of wedding providers, and information packets letting you know all the great places to stay for you and your out of town guests, plus things to do here while you’re visiting our town. Cumberland County (my county), is listed as the 8th greatest place to visit and things to do out of the 100 counties in NC. We also have a Zip Line that is listed as the 2nd greatest in all the US!

Rev. Darlene,

Thank you very much for officiating our wedding. You helped make it a beautiful ceremony and we will forever be grateful.

Bob & Lorna Jarzenski 10-8-11

Rev. Darlene,

Thank you so much for making this process very easy for us. We really appreciate it. We received the certificate in the mail today. It is great. You shared the best day of our lives with us.

Love, Andrew & Christine Alger 12-4-11
I attended a Bridal Show Sunday at the Botanical Gardens in Fayetteville, NC.
Wonderful vendors where there such as "The Chocolate Lady"  (http://www.fayettevillechocolatelady.com/), serving fresh chocolate covered strawberries, what a great idea to have fresh chocolate covered fruit at your wedding.
Also there was "Jones Hitch Company" (http://www.joneshitch.com/), to rent a beautiful white carriage to be escorted to your wedding.
Another great idea is "Play Date of Fayetteville, Inc.", they provide onsite babysitting for weddings and receptions.
I was honored to officiate a "Baby Blessing" on February 25 in the home of Deloye & Chirstina who were named the God Parents of Makayla.  The Baby Blessing was in conjunction with Makayla's 1st Birthday.  A big celebration was held afterwards.

Britton & Courtney were married at the Knollwood House in Southern Pines, NC, a beautiful Bed & Breakfast secluded in the woods in horse country. Britton is an Army Officer and his bride is the eldest of three children, she wore her mother’s wedding dress (just beautiful).  Courtney's two brothers are both Army officers also, all three men wore their dress army blues and they looked so handsome.  All three men are on orders to leave for overseas shortly.  The intimate ceremony was attended only by both parents.  They were married in front of a fireplace and the weather was just perfect.   The groom's family is from NY and the bride's family is from OK.

MUST BRING MARRIAGE LICENSE
A legal marriage within North Carolina, whether civil or religious, can only occur if a marriage license has been issued. In fact, you can't get married without it. Fortunately, obtaining the license is a simple procedure. The license is secured from a county Register of Deeds office and is valid throughout the state for 60 days after it is issued. Following the ceremony, the magistrate or minister will complete the license and return it to the Register of Deeds Office in the county where it was issued. Click here for details.
