FAQ

ABOUT ME

My name is Rev. Darlene Liedig and I am an ordained non-denominational interfaith minister in North Carolina since June of 2001, and specialize in personalizing ceremonies to your taste. I will help you fill your ceremony with expressions of you. This day is about what you both want and what you both desire. Together we can find a ceremony that unites your thoughts and ideas and focuses on what you imagine your ceremony to be.

I provide unique customized ceremonies for Weddings, Wedding Renewal, Unions, Commitments and Baby Blessings. I'll work individually by phone, email or in person. Consultation is free with a sample ceremony. I travel to Hoke, Lee, Cumberland, Harrnette, and Moore Counties. No venue is to small or to big. When a wedding planner is absent, she instructs the wedding party processional.

WHAT OPTIONS DO I HAVE?

Ceremonies are individually crafted and may be either traditional, non-traditional or a combination of both.

  • Your ceremony may be spiritual, religious, or no preference.
  • Your ceremony may follow a theme. It may follow a time period, a musical era, follow a culture, or be any other possibility in the realms of your imagination.
  • Your ceremony may combine the traditions of one or both parties. These may include a glass breaking ceremony, unity candle, unity circle, rose ceremony, broom ceremony, or any other ceremony you may want to incorporate.
  • You may personalize your ceremony through traditional poems and vows or individually written poems, vows, or thoughts.
  • You may invite a friend or family member to be a part of your ceremony by having them perform readings or reflections.
  • You may want to incorporate children into any part of the ceremony.
  • You may want to Include pets, singing, bands, or other music as a part of your ceremony.
The most important part of your ceremony is that it is meaningful to you and your life partner and that you are able to share that with your family and friends.
WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE ANY OF THE OPTIONS PRESENTED?

If you do not like any of the options or are having difficulty coming to a decision, I will help you create new options. In other words I will work with you until you are satisfied with the ceremony.

WHAT AREAS DO YOU SERVICE?

I service the areas of Hope Mills, Fayetteville, Southern Pines, Pinehurst, Lumberton, Sanford, and the surrounding areas. I will service any area whin 100 miles of Hope Mills, NC. If your location is further than 100 miles, arrangements may be made.

HOW MUCH DOES YOUR SERVICE COST?

The cost of a wedding officiant varies. The cost depends on the length, consultation hours, distance away from service provider, and special requests. However, I will work with you to give you a quality service that meets your budget needs.

CAN YOU GIVE US A MARRIAGE LICENSE?

A legal marriage within North Carolina, whether civil or religious, can only occur if a marriage license has been issued. In fact, you can't get married without it. Fortunately, obtaining the license is a simple procedure. The license is secured from a county Register of Deeds office and is valid throughout the state for 60 days after it is issued. Persons 21 years old or older may validate their personal identification with a Driver's License. Persons between the ages of 18 and 21 years may marry without the consent of a parent or guardian but will need a Birth Certificate. There is no longer a blood test requirement or waiting period. Following the ceremony, the magistrate or minister will complete the license and return it to the Register of Deeds Office in the county where it was issued. The license then becomes an official record. License Requirements
